Owo church massacre: Five suspects arraigned in Abuja

A federal high court in Abuja arraigned five men in connection with the June 2022 attack on St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, which left dozens dead and many injured. The defendants pleaded not guilty to terrorism charges and were remanded in custody ahead of trial. The case is seen as a test of Nigeria’s capacity to prosecute complex terror-related incidents while safeguarding due process for victims and suspects alike.
